FREDI (meaning, in french Fondation pour la Recherche d'Enfants Disparus, en utlisant l'Internet
Description: As you can see the name FREDI is coming from a word game in French and means Foundation for Search for Missing Children, using Internet. The FREDI Foundation with its H.Q. in Switzerland, has since 1997 been involved in signaling the disappearance of children, not only in Switzerland, but also in many other parts of the world. FREDI publishes, when families or police ask to do it, wanted folders with pictures and dissapearance informations, on the web. FREDI don't forget to protect and help as much as possible the concerned families. FREDI has successfully established links and close collaboration with other equivalent organizations in countries such as: Germany, Belgium, Austria, Italy, France, Great Britain, Canada, North America, Australia, Africa. To improve this collaboration FREDI created a missing children webring. However, very quickly, organizations dealing with the question of disappearances of children realized that they faced a huge task of passing information and prevention tips to children, their parents and their teachers (please. go to prevention advices to the families..) This, in a way, would ensure that all would adopt similar behavior aiming at reducing the risks of having any child's name appearing on the list of these organizations. FREDI offers: Alerts the public by publishing an announcement about a missing child č on its site and those of its numerous partners. č within 24 hours of receiving the request č right up to the moment of receiving an official notice of recovery of the missing child.
